Meditative, joyful, and magnetic. This genre bending singer-songwriter writes music for herself and you can tell. Her songs blend tender lyrics, atmospheric vocals and her favorite elements from Neo-Soul, Folk, and Indie music to create something that feels authentic. She writes to comfort herself and if that can resonate with someone else, all the better. 

Called a “Star on the rise” by KQED, August is an up and coming artist that is adding to the rich musical history of the California Bay Area. She has shared stages with artists such as Smokey Robinson, Seal, The Philharmonic, LaRussel, and Martin Luther McCoy. She released her first EP, Better Places in 2024 after receiving a grant from Women’s Audio Mission (WAM). 

She released her first album, Live at the Troubadour as an interim project while she currently records her debut album. Live at the Troubadour was recorded from her debut LA performance at the iconic Hollywood Troubadour. With just a guitar and piano August shines in this solo performance highlighting her songwriting, charm and authenticity.

August is a multi instrumentalist getting her start with classical piano at the notable Oakland School for the Arts. She is also one of the founding members of the artist collective, Oakland Rising which has shared stages with Sheila E, Rhiannon Giddens,  and Joy Oladakun. She is currently recording her debut album which digs into her familial roots and history slated to release late 2026.
